I spent the day at my omi’s and we sewed! This fabric style is called “batik” Batik is a traditional wax-resist dyeing technique used to create intricate patterns on fabric, where hot wax is applied to cloth to block dye from certain areas, revealing the design after the wax is removed, often with crackled effects; it’s a culturally significant art form from Indonesia. I made the swirly design by myself, and honestly it was addicting. Took quite a few hours to complete but was great to get away from paper and make something out of fabric.
